BIO
"The two best days of your life are the day you are born and the day you learn why." Mark Twain
Randy Ruffin is a recording artist, singer, and performer whose sound is deeply rooted in the golden era of 1960s soul. Originally raised fifty percent of his life in West Philadelphia just blocks from the legendary American Bandstand, Randy was immersed early in a musical environment shaped by artists connected to what would become Philadelphia International Records, under the leadership of Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff, and Tom Bell. He spent another forty percent in Willingboro, N.J. and, ten percent between, Inglewood, CA. and the state of Hawaii and currently resides in Philadelphia, PA.
A seasoned soulful entertainer, Randy has performed throughout the East Coast for more than a decade, appearing at festivals, clubs, casinos, radio broadcasts, and private events. His career reached a pivotal moment when he signed with Society Hill Records, leading to the release of his debut single Walk Away from Love (2024) and the critically praised EP You Sure Love to Ball (2025). The five-track EP stands as both a tribute and an artistic evolution, seamlessly blending classic soul, reimagined R&B, and even Broadway, while showcasing Randy’s vocal range, interpretive depth, and modern sensibility. The project has generated international buzz and firmly established him not as a tribute artist, but as a contemporary torchbearer of classic soul.
With a commanding stage presence, Randy delivers performances that are both nostalgic and contemporary. Randy’s rich baritone and smooth falsetto have drawn comparisons to icons such as Marvin Gaye, David Ruffin, Paul Williams of The Temptations, Levi Stubbs, Lou Rawls, Donnie Hathaway, Sam Cooke, and Nat King Cole. Yet his sound remains unmistakably his own - defined by vocal dexterity, emotional storytelling, and a rare ability to make timeless songs feel personal and present.
Randy Ruffin doesn’t revisit classic soul—he reclaims it, delivering timeless music with modern intimacy and undeniable authenticity.
Classic soul lives again in the voice of Randy Ruffin—timeless, intimate, and unmistakably real.
Randy is currently in the studio working on his next project, slated for release in 2026, as he continues to honor the legends who inspired him while carving out a sound that is distinctly—and unmistakably—his own.
